Two weeks to Taupo - How did I get here?

Its like struggling for breath just before you reach the finish line!!

When I started this journey, I wanted to cycle the Taupo challenge. At the time I remember going up a small incline on my mountain bike and completely falling apart from the exertion and falling off my bike. I was crap LOL I remember a couple of weeks later making it to the top of that hill and crying because my partner wanted to go further and I had completely run out of oomph. Taupo!! Your joking!! I cant even get up a wee hill!!

Well I decided that the only way to do this was to work on base fitness. We continued to do more mtn biking. I recall one hill where the exertion of (walking) up a hill was so much, I didnt dare stop. My top rolled up, my pants rolled down and my big round belly just flopped out for the world to see, and frankly I didnt care cos I was going to walk up that damn hill if it killed me. And it did.

A whole winter of gyming. Starting slowly, building up as energy allowed. Feeling every kilo off making me stronger, lighter. A few months of not being able to lose weight. The plateau from hell. Trying all sorts of techniques, changes in eating, changes in exercise. All to no avail, but somehow the body changing shape, toning, shrinking.

Then the road biking. I really should have started that way earlier. Lesson learned!! Im going to keep it up through next winter for next years challenge. This year is a trial run only.

Fitter, leaner, stronger, faster, more powerful and more stamina to ride for hours.
Now with two weeks to go, I want to get to the end, be done with it, and focus again on how to lose weight. More pics to come :-)
