Two weeks to Taupo - How did I get here?

Its like struggling for breath just before you reach the finish line!!

When I started this journey, I wanted to cycle the Taupo challenge. At the time I remember going up a small incline on my mountain bike and completely falling apart from the exertion and falling off my bike. I was crap LOL I remember a couple of weeks later making it to the top of that hill and crying because my partner wanted to go further and I had completely run out of oomph. Taupo!! Your joking!! I cant even get up a wee hill!!

Well I decided that the only way to do this was to work on base fitness. We continued to do more mtn biking. I recall one hill where the exertion of (walking) up a hill was so much, I didnt dare stop. My top rolled up, my pants rolled down and my big round belly just flopped out for the world to see, and frankly I didnt care cos I was going to walk up that damn hill if it killed me. And it did.

A whole winter of gyming. Starting slowly, building up as energy allowed. Feeling every kilo off making me stronger, lighter. A few months of not being able to lose weight. The plateau from hell. Trying all sorts of techniques, changes in eating, changes in exercise. All to no avail, but somehow the body changing shape, toning, shrinking.

Then the road biking. I really should have started that way earlier. Lesson learned!! Im going to keep it up through next winter for next years challenge. This year is a trial run only.

Fitter, leaner, stronger, faster, more powerful and more stamina to ride for hours.
Now with two weeks to go, I want to get to the end, be done with it, and focus again on how to lose weight. More pics to come :-)

The Cycle Challenge No. 1

Hey ho!! So much training, so much pain!!!

Today we completed a cycle challenge. We arrived at Martinborough at 8am, registered, got our food organised and set off with about 1000 other cyclists at 9am.

4 hours and 36 minutes later, having been kamakazied by a bee who decided to sting me in the head through a gap in my helmet, I crawled in to the finish line. I completed this 115km challenge and Im just so tired, but feeling so much stronger than I used to. Im not fast up hills, but I take it on the flat.

Love my new bike, hate wind, not so in love with hills, but quite partial to dried fruit!!

I definitely need to lose more weight. You would think that all this cycling would do it along with healthy eating wouldnt you. Sigh!!! Posted by Picasa

The other day, SexyF (left) 21forever (middle) and Mrs K (right) met with me for lunch. We had a great bagel and coffee together and really enjoyed the break.

I nearly let them off the hook but at the last minute, pulled out my trusty cellphone and caught this pic.

My Christmas Dress

Today while shopping with SexyFrangipani I fell in love. Im not one for randomly falling in love with clothes, but it seems I am getting smaller and my eyes are opening.

This dress sang to me, it begged me to take it home. I ran off round the mall to find my darling man so he could decide wether I could justify a dress one size too small for me or not.

Well he can deny me nothing, and I love him for it, so the dress came home with me. Im going to hang it in my wardrobe and take it out every week to inspire me.

This Xmas, this is what I will be wearing :-) Im so excited!! Posted by Picasa

The ugly reality back at the start

These pictures were taken in January 2006. I just wanted to put it up to show people that you can make changes. I was well overweight and I knew it. I just decided I was going to join Weight Watchers so what the hell, live with it and make the changes when I got home.

I did. I can tell you that it doesn't matter what you look like at the beginning or how much you dont like your body, you can make changes. You only need to decide. Decision made, begin, and do it one day at a time. Never look at the total goal, break it down and believe in yourself. Im following this very system and it works for me. You can do it cos if I can, anyone can. Posted by Picasa

I just cant resist this baby

Wee Nathaniel, my newest nephew is doing well and home with Mum and Dad. Aunty Lesley got cuddles today, but baby was only interested in where the boobie was at. This wasnt a scream on his face, it was disgust that a boob hadnt yet eventuated!!

Aunty Lesley is smitten :-) Posted by Picasa

10% Reveal

Well at this point, I have lost 10kg. The last month was a tough time as the body slowed down and only 1.6 came off. However, Im working my butt off and looking forward to the next 5kg.

Looking forward to the belly going flat. Posted by Picasa

Cuff me Quick

During my party, my son made the fatal mistake of walking in. A worst error in judgement was to stay in.

My mad friend Alice cuffed him (see purple cuffs) and snuggled him in close. She was looking really skanky and wasnt wearing a bra, but she promised me she was wearing knickers.

Daniel left soon after. Gee dont know why??!! Posted by Picasa

My chief Support - Party Technician

I spent ages getting skanky, while Brent was in the lounge trying to get good sounds out of the computer. The man is a total geek, and spent all day working only to come home and do technical stuff so we could have the computer hooked to the stereo and play any music we wanted.

Then the night evolved into a girlie night so we sent him to his room for his own safety.

The man is pure gold LOL Posted by Picasa

Slappers and Flappers - core party Animals

Well I had a bit of a party. I decided to have a bit of a theme so people could come as a slapper or a flapper. We had a ball, and I really enjoyed dressing up and flashing my girlie bits.

Afterall, Im old, fat and fun. Might as well document the whole sordid moment so when I shrink I will look FAB for the next one. Posted by Picasa

5kg Loss - A step along the journey

5 Kg off I thought I was looking great. I got Brent to take this picture and then realised I shouldnt wear striped pants and my waist still needs work.

Just as well I have nearly 40kg to go, cos this is just the beginning baby!!!

I went through the Xmas pics, and saw how incredibly fat I had been. My God Im shocked already and going to work like a bugger!!! Posted by Picasa

Marvelous Me

Xmas Day 2005, and I was marvelous. Well for a lot of the day I was quite pissed actually. But we survived and I got on the Ferry the next day to the South Island without throwing up all over the boat.

Anyway, we had a great day, everyone had fun and I was starting to think...hmmmm Im fatter than I allow for. I had just recovered from an open Cholestectomy (Gall bladder removal) and I also have an underactive thyroid. I was sick of using that all as an excuse not to work on my health.

I was about to enter this Weight Watchers journey, and I hadnt told anyone yet.

Its all very exciting really. Posted by Picasa

My Baby Girl

This is Alycia.

I take her to WW meetings to show everyone what Im going to look like when I get to goal.

She is in her second year this year at University. She majors in Psychology and Marketing and speaks fluent German.

Im very proud of Alycia and we are very close. The cake she is carrying was supposed to be a gingerbread house but it collapsed, so, being my daughter, Alycia was not phased.

She just iced the clump and three smarties at it and jelly lollies and chocolate. It was about a gazillion kilojoules. She then decided to take it to my sisters house. My sister is a Herbalife leader so it was only fair that the kilojoules went there.

Well Alycia and I got the joke anyway!!! Posted by Picasa

The biggest fear

All I can say is if you think Im EVER doing this you have to be out of your freakin mind!!

A few of the girls at WW have mentioned they will do it when they get to goal. I mentioned I might but the thought of it gives me the skitters.

We were on holiday down south and Brent and the boys spent ages trying to get me to jump. I doubt it!!! Posted by Picasa

Me and My other boys

These fellas are my posse. The little guy on the far left is Daniel and he is too cool for his pants.

Daniel is 15 in March

The other guy is Joseph. He is the guy that keeps my lawns mowed and weeds trimmed. He would like to be cool, but sadly, God had other plans for him. Joseph is 16.

We took the boys on a Mountain biking holiday over the summer. It rained almost every day other than this one and we never got to ride properly till we got back. Posted by Picasa

My boy and me

This is me with Brent. Brent and I met about 15 months ago when I challenged a girlfriend to go to Ceroc dancing.

I only went cos I thought it would be fun to do something naff. Well naff it wasnt and it turned out to be a great place to find a man LOL

Brent has been my rock, my biggest support and fan and the man I want to see the world with.

He doesnt see how fat I am, but is pushing me to achieve my dreams.

Gotta love that man Posted by Picasa
